Kenpo 5.0 Adult Program
The science of fighting and self-defense
Our adult program is an in-depth study of Jeff Speakman's Kenpo
5.0 system that includes (but not limited to) Sets, Forms,
Weapons training, Sparring, and Self-defense techniques. Class
begin with a brisk warm-up (basics, foot maneuvers, kicking
drills, etc) and stretching. Often, we will work on sparring
drills to get the students warm as well. Then, get ready to
enjoy a faced paced, informative class!
Sparring sessions are conducted weekly in concert with the development of the self-defense
techniques. There is no point sparring here. The focus is on practical, well-rounded,
continuous
self-defense and fighting skills. Both standing and and ground
fighting skills are developed.
Forms and sets provide foundational coordination, timing, balance, technique flow and agility that is utilized in the Kenpo 5.0 system. Every form contains practical self-defense components and every set is a building block for the principals that make kenpo such an effective self-defense system.
The self-defense techniques are the product of in-depth
study into defensive techniques that are both effective and
intuitive. These techniques are drilled and studied in great
depth to ensure comprehension and intuitive reaction to
specific attacks in high-stress situations.
Classes wrap up with cardio and strength building sessions that are custom developed by the instructors to develop fitness and conditioning specific to the martial arts as well as general wellness. The conditioning is constantly changed to promote muscle confusion, which is beneficial for Weight Loss, Cardio (or Cardiac, as some of the students refer to it) Endurance, Muscle Toning, and Core Strength Development.
